Life, Holidays, and WordPress

Friday, December 19th, 2008

I have been very busy lately. It seems a lot of things have been happening and I can’t keep up yet, when I try to remember what I have spent all my time on I can’t recall hardly a thing. I am fully out of debt and glad to be. I don’t plan on going into debt or getting a mortgage any time soon, but who can be sure what tomorrow will bring. I am SO ready for the holiday season, I just wish I got more time off from work, but I guess two days is better than nothing.

For those who have been using the Money Merge Account or those who are very smart and know how to manage their money well and keep on top of it, there are many who should now be out of debt and hopefully wiser with their money. I have never had to live paycheck to paycheck and I think I would be quite stressed if I did.

Now on to the important part: I am loving WordPress! For those of you who have never had a website, it is really easy if you have WordPress to help! WordPress is a blogging software but I have helped install it for several people and a lot of people use it as a regular content management system instead of as a blogging software because it is so versatile. It is strange how easy it is and yet how much power it has! I started out using just a feature or two here and there but am learning to use a lot more of the neat features it provides and enhancing it with plugins. It is 101% free so for any of you who haven’t tried it out and want to, check it out! wordpress.org

Facebook is Moving up

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

I was planning on making me a page on MySpace, but, having high moral standards, I ran into problems with many of the advertisements and pages of too many other people. Then a friend recommended Facebook to me. Facebook is somewhat like MySpace. You have more functionality in some ways and less in others, but there is less junk to deal with, or at least there was when I joined. Now they have added some junk, but still I consider it less than what I found on MySpace.

It is useful for finding friends, as well as for playing games with those friends and keeping in contact with people across the world. I would recommend it for anyone who is interested.

Welcome, Welcome

For those of you who visit Still Life, don’t forget to check out the comments people offer. If you have an answer to someone’s question, don’t run away before leaving a quick post to try to help them out. Or, if you have a question, take the time to post it. Maybe someone will be able to answer it.

I’ve noticed that many people who visit Still Life don’t check out the comments. They are important! Personally, I’m still learning, I’m not sold on anything, and I’d like to say I have all the answers, but I don’t. There are those who comment, who will likely know them, though. If you want answers, you’ll likely have to do some research. I’ve tried to provide some useful links for visitors, so check them out. There are links on the posts, and in the comments, but there’s more on the Resources page.

Also, if you’ve been working yourself ragged, take some time to go somewhere or do something and then concentrate on the Money Merge Account, or the home you’re about to lose — or whatever your problem is — or if you don’t have time or a place to go and relax, check out some of the links I’ve provided under Recreation and see if there’s anything that might interest you.

Time to Chill

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Everyone knows that there are many different types of people. Some are able to work a lot, and others just want to have fun. Myself, I enjoy a fun game every now and then, and I like to go places and/or do things with my friends.

There are some people that are working all the time. Even when their boss forces — or really pushes for — them to take some time off and go on vacation, they can’t bear to be without their cell phone(s) so they can check up on everything they are working on. Again . . . and again . . . and again.

I like to work, but if I try to work too much, eventually I feel burned out and I need to take a moment — even a single minute helps — to relax and do something that I want to do. One fun site to visit when you need a quick moment to play a game or to think about something other than work is AddictingGames.com. (But don’t get addicted) I like HomeStarRunner, too, so check that out if you have a somewhat twisted sense of humor. (Or if you are just bored) And for those of us — like me — who are able to read and appreciate a good a great comic loaded with twists and humor, check out Wanted Hero. (I followed information about someone who posted on Still Life to find this website and I loved it!)

With how stressed some people are, it’s plain that a little recreation could do them some good! So find some time to do something that you want to do! Unless of course, you are one of those people that just want to have fun, then get back to work.
